About & Environment

Gabrielle Izen

I’m an illustrator and modern calligrapher and create all my work by hand using traditional methods, dip pens, Japanese reed pens, Indian inks, pencils, watercolour paints and crayons.

I’m inspired by the natural world and the magical romantic space of an overgrown garden. I have filled the garden with an array of roses, climbers and anything that attracts wildlife. It’s a quiet peaceful haven which helps to bring a sense of flow into my designs.

The printers, fulfilment service and paper merchants are based in Kent and the print presses are carbon neutral in a solar-powered warehouse. The paper stock is FSC-accredited and carries the ISO 9706 ‘long life’ certification.

The studio waste is recycled, composted or incinerated at a nearby steam power station which generates electricity for the local area. The printer ink cartridges are also recycled. The packaging is recyclable including biodegradable bubble wrap and cellophane bags.

I’m proud to say my work is made in England.
